A Global Plan to Permanently Eliminate Poverty Diving Within: Talking with David Lynch Enlightening the Next Generation A Quantum Approach to Chronic Pain

A Quantum Approach to Chronic Pain

One out of every six Americans faces chronic pain. Second only to the common cold as a cause for sick leave, it is said to be the most costly health problem today, with costs estimated between $50 and $100 billion.

No other program has been nearly as effective

Pain that persists—for weeks, months and even years—can be a prison, interfering with jobs, hobbies, social life. While pain killers might offer relief, but they have such harmful side effects that many have recently been taken off the market. Worse, medications don’t fix the problem that caused the pain in the first place. Research shows that at least half of those who suffer from chronic pain do not find relief with medication. No wonder Americans are turning in droves to alternative therapies such as acupuncture, herbal therapies, or meditation to deal with chronic pain.

Some might find relief from chronic pain with a program known as Maharishi Vedic Vibration TechnologySM (MVVTSM), a non-medical approach for enlivening the body’s inner intelligence to heal chronic disorders and chronic pain.

Take Michael Yankus. The fifty-something graphic designer suffered a whiplash injury when another driver didn’t notice a stop sign and rammed his car from the rear. “It caused severe headaches over the years, and even though I went through three months of physical therapy and used yoga to deal with it, nothing really helped,” he says.

The headaches and neck pain continued until Yankus signed on for three MVVT sessions (for headache, whiplash and for a frozen shoulder resulting from surfing in wetsuits over a period of years). “During the sessions, the pain in my shoulder evaporated,” he said. “The headaches and neck pain took a little longer. But within three weeks, my posture had changed, and I noticed a tremendous fluidity and youthfulness in my upper body.” The headaches and neck pain disappeared. Within six months, Yankus’s nine-year-old injury was 90 percent healed.

Your Body Is A Wave Function

What brought Michael Yankus such relief, and will it work for others?

Maharishi Vedic Vibration Technology is one aspect of an entire system of knowledge from India, known as the Veda, which is described as the oldest system of knowledge in the world. Maharishi Vedic Vibration Technology has been brought to light in recent times by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the founder of the Transcendental Meditation® technique, which has been shown in over 600 studies to improve mental, physical, social and emotional health.

MVVT could be thought of as both ancient and modern, because it combines the wisdom of the Veda with an understanding of the human body derived from quantum field theory. For example, from the perspective of quantum field theory, all matter, including the human body, is understood to be a complex waveform, the sum total of many smaller waves or vibrations. And all fluctuations and frequencies in creation—including the human body—have their basis in one fundamental field, called the unified field.

This parallels the Vedic view, which describes all phenomena as a vibration of an underlying field of unity. You could say that from both perspectives, health is a state when all the wave forms that comprise the individual are in balance, and disease is an aberration in those fundamental frequencies.

This gets to the heart of the matter. The MVVT program uses traditional Vedic sounds to restore normal wave functioning to the frequencies that are out of balance. During the MVVT session, a Vedic Expert whispers a Vedic SoundSM in his or her own consciousness and applies that sound to the area of the body that is diseased or in pain. The wave function of the imbalanced area returns to normal, and the pain or disease disappears.

Preliminary Research

All of this would sound like interesting theory, except for the anecdotal evidence of thousands of people who have found relief through MVVT—and the findings of preliminary research.

The first research, a double blind randomized controlled study conducted in Germany, Holland and France, tested the effectiveness of a single session of MVVT in 176 individuals with peripheral arthritis, spinal disease and rheumatoid arthritis. In the group receiving the MVVT technique, one third of the participants experienced 100 percent relief from pain, one third had greater than 60 percent relief, and one third reported less than 60 percent relief. In addition, more than half the participants experienced 60 percent improvement in range of motion.

These results were published in the journal Frontiers of Bioscience. Since then, researcher David Scharf, Ph.D., has collected and analyzed 30,000 participant self-reports from MVVT participants who have found relief from a wide range of chronic diseases from chronic pain to insomnia to depression. These findings indicate that participants experienced more than 48 percent relief in just three sessions for chronic disorders that had lasted an average of fourteen years. Two-thirds of the participants reported 25 to 100 percent relief, and 6 percent of participants reported 100 percent relief. The average improvement for all disorders was about 48 percent.

The Raj Maharishi Ayurveda Health Spa in Fairfield, Iowa, is a natural health spa that was voted one of five top international spas by Town and Country and Vogue that regularly recommends the MVVT program to its clientele.

One of the health educators at the Raj explained: “With the recent discovery that common pain medications can increase heart risk, there is a real need for pain relief without toxic side effects. MVVT works at a deep level of mind-body connection to relieve pain and correct the underlying imbalances that cause it. It rebalances the body by strengthening its own healing ability in a natural way. In a sense it’s erasing the memory of pain.”

One of their clients complained of back pain from an accident six years previous. She had tried surgery, medication, and physical therapy--as well as alternative therapies such as acupuncture and massage—all without relief. Then she came to the Raj and was recommended MVVT. “By the end of her consultation she had experienced 80-90 percent relief.”

Like any approach, results are not the same for everyone. Even though you can’t predict who will receive the greatest results, many participants experience a noticeable improvement in their symptom and there are no negative side effects.

Because MVVT is not a well-known program, many people are skeptical when they start. This was the case with two elderly women who were wheeled in by their niece, an R.N. who had practiced the Transcendental Meditation program for many years and was hopeful that this new program could help her aging aunts. The first aunt, who had been suffering from forty years of rheumatoid arthritis, almost convinced her niece to take her home before the consultation started, so distrustful was she of the program. When she came out of the consultation room, though, she was radiant, because for the first time in forty years, she had no pain in her hands and feet.

The other aunt, who had seen the results her sister experienced and had lost her skepticism, had to be helped onto the treatment table, as she was unable to lift herself due to Parkinson’s disease. After the consultation, when the assistants came to help her off the table, she brushed their hands aside and walked out by herself. She no longer had a severely gaited walk, and walked normally.

Sometimes, it takes more than one consultation to stabilize the effects. That was the case with Devani Wagner. For more than forty-five years, she had suffered bouts of arthritis pain and inflammation, a disease she inherited from her mother starting at age twenty. “Even when it was in remission, my knees were stiff, and getting up stairs was slow,” she says. “Medication didn’t help.”

Then she decided to try the Maharishi Vedic Vibration Technology. “Right after the session, I was walking up to my door, lost in thoughts,” she remembers. “Suddenly I found myself at the top of the stairs. I literally sprang up the steps. The only time I could spring up like that was when I was a teenager.”

That was five years ago, and since then Devani, age 62, has lived without pain or stiffness. “I had what you call instant relief,” she says. “I feel a great freedom in my life.”
